At its meeting the Sumner County Library Board elected Tracy Parker as chair and Paul McCoy as vice chair; the board decided to revisit confirmation of the treasurer and secretary at its July meeting. The changes took effect immediately after the voice votes.
Tracy Parker was nominated and affirmed by the board; members then moved to fill vice-chair responsibilities and affirmed Paul McCoy. The board agreed to leave the treasurer position open for final confirmation in July and noted that directors control individual branch budgets and would attend county budget hearings as needed.
Library directors provided routine operational reports. Emily, the director at the Hendersonville branch, described an ambassador/volunteer training program offered several times weekly with more than 25 participants in the initial session and a branch book sale that raised over $8,000. One director said their branch served as an early voting site for Portland and recorded 310 voters on a single day during the pilot; the board discussed using state templates for a model memorandum of understanding (MOU) with partner libraries and asked legal counsel for review before any signing.
Board members also discussed longer-term planning, potential ADA-related facility upgrades under a construction grant conversation with county staff, and the timeline to form committees and revisit officer roles in July.
The meeting closed after directors' reports and administrative motions; members said staff will circulate the revised collection-policy wording and other materials to board members and directors ahead of the July meeting.
