Parks staff told the Franklin City Park Board that the Scott Park project is advancing toward a final design. "We're very close to a final layout of what the park will look like," the staff member said, describing planned restrooms, a splash pad, playground area, pickleball and basketball courts, horseshoe pits and parking. Staff said a more formal drawing will be shared with the board within about 30 to 60 days.
On the pool study, staff said there is no new outcome to report yet but confirmed a pool-study meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 2:00 p.m. Staff said a concept drawing is expected after that meeting and that the board should expect a fuller update next month.
On finances, staff reporting on the athletic and recreation fund said revenue is "up significantly this year from last year," despite instituting non-resident fees. The parks appropriation fund, staff said, is spending less so far this year than at the same time last year, leaving capacity to spend more during the summer months. Staff attributed some of the year-over-year variance to timing of expenses and weather effects on projects and activities.
Board members did not take formal action on Scott Park or the pool study at this meeting; staff indicated the projects will return with drawings and additional details for future consideration.
