The Galesville‑Ettrick‑Trempealeau School District board voted to approve the negotiated 2026–27 teacher salary schedule and a companion hourly wage schedule for support staff.
Board members described the negotiations as cordial. "It went simple and it went easy and...I think everyone's happy to have a settled increase," a board member said during the discussion. The board then conducted roll‑call votes and carried the teacher salary schedule.
On the hourly wage schedule, the roll call showed multiple members voting yes while one member, Sarah, recorded a no vote. After the vote a board member pressed the dissenting member, asking, "Why do you vote no for the pay raises? How do you expect us to keep personnel?" The dissenting member replied that they did not have to explain their vote. The exchange was heated but did not change the outcome; the hourly schedule passed.
Administration earlier told the board the finalized schedules had been discussed in the negotiations committee and that the changes reflected agreements reached with employee representatives. The board also approved a leave request for a staff member with flexibility, and the meeting included other routine personnel and committee items.
The board recorded the votes on the minutes and will implement the new pay schedules in the 2026–27 payroll cycle.
