Temple City manager: neighborhood watch meeting set; sewer trunk-line work slowing and road grind-and-overlay to start

City Manager Brian Cook updated the Temple City Council on April 16 about community safety and infrastructure projects, saying some planned work is moving more slowly than expected but that the city will communicate schedules to affected residents.

"This coming Thursday is our neighborhood watch meeting at Cloverly Elementary School at 5:30," Cook said, inviting residents to attend. He also noted Earth Day activities in the afternoon at Live Oak Park beginning at 10 a.m.

On infrastructure, Cook said the county sanitation district's trunk-line project is progressing slowly; crews are currently doing manhole work and the city is waiting for a revised schedule. "If you see anybody out right now they are just doing manhole work for the next couple weeks," he said, and promised contractor contact information and a revised schedule would be posted on the city's website.

Cook also described the city's road improvement work: the council-approved grind-and-overlay bid includes Garabaldi Street from city limit to city limit as one of the first streets to be repaved. He said the grind-and-overlay approach does not close streets for long periods but may cause dust and some disruption; contractors will use sweepers and mitigation measures.

Cook encouraged residents with concerns to use the posted contractor phone numbers and thanked the city's tree team and West Coast Arborist for planned tree work.
