District administration gave a detailed update on the program and budget evaluation process, reporting several categories of recurring savings and new revenue opportunities intended to stabilize the district’s finances.
The presenter said the review covered 611 positions (561 full) with six positions currently frozen and 44 positions eliminated over multiple years through attrition. Staffing changes and reductions produced roughly $1,455,962 in savings; non-staff recurring efficiencies (software consolidations, contract adjustments) totaled about $197,255. After adding required new 4K positions costing roughly $557,663, the presenter said the district’s net recurring savings are just under $1.1 million.
Staff also highlighted new revenue prospects. Jenny McMahon and the student services team identified approximately $273,000 of additional eligible high-cost special education reimbursements to submit to the state; with expected reimbursement rates near 35% this could yield an estimated $213,000 in additional revenue. The district has also secured two multi-year grants amounting to about $104,000 over three years to support technical assistance and social-emotional learning work.
Board members asked whether program reductions would cut services. Administration said programs will remain intact, that some contracted tasks have been absorbed internally, and that stipend consolidations reflect role adjustments rather than loss of core services. The board heard the administration will continue to monitor enrollment and staffing and report updates in coming months.
