Board schedules second reading to extend cell-phone rule to grades 9–12; personnel package approved and executive session planned

The Murray County Board of Education moved forward on a revision to its student cell-phone policy and approved a personnel slate while scheduling a called meeting for administrator interviews.

Board members discussed a newly passed state law that extends restrictions on student cell-phone use to grades 9–12. The district announced it will amend policy JCDAF to change the covered grades from K–8 to K–12; that change completed a first reading and the board said the second reading and vote will occur at the next meeting.
