Pinellas Park'The City Council on March 14 unanimously approved a conditional-use application allowing AutoNation Toyota to expand its facility at 8501 US Highway 19 North with a new service building, a canopied detailing area and an automated car wash.
Development Review Manager Megan Monino told the council the proposed expansion meets conditional-use criteria in the B-1 zoning district, including minimum lot area and landscaping requirements. The applicant said the project will provide 643 parking spaces, exceeding the 515 spaces required by code.
Darren A. of Thomas Engineering Group, speaking for the applicant, confirmed the expansion upgrades the existing AutoNation Toyota service facilities and adds an automatic car wash to the north side of the site.
On the consent agenda, council approved items C1'C23 (with C14 withdrawn). The consent items included multiple utility and roadway easement acceptances, appointments to boards and commissions, a first reading of an ordinance adopting a master plan for a mixed-use planned unit development, and procurement authorizations. Notable procurement items listed in the agenda text included a paving-services authorization not to exceed $1,800,000 for fiscal years 2023-24 through 2024-25 and a contract amount listed for Freedom Lake Park walking-trail work at $700,000; several vehicle and equipment purchases for police services were also included on the consent agenda.
Councilmembers voiced appreciation for staff and first responders and approved the consent agenda unanimously.
