Miss Granakota presented comparative data compiled with Municipal Revenue Service on delinquent tax collections and outlined possible proceeds the district could realize from a tax-liens sale program.
Several board members expressed caution and asked for additional due diligence, including contacting neighboring counties and districts that have used similar services. One board member said a county official had not heard of the provider, prompting a request to obtain references from districts that have worked with the company.
The board asked staff to research client references and operational experience in nearby counties; a board member offered to visit county courthouses and report back. Members agreed a target decision date of April would allow time to gather references and fit the district's budgeting schedule.
No motion or contract was approved at the work session. The item will return to the board after the district completes reference checks and compiles additional information for the April meeting.
