The Maryland Senate opened its March 5 session by recognizing a cohort of 2025 Blue Ribbon Schools, reading a formal resolution that congratulated school leaders and educators for their “excellence in academic achievement and commitment to student success.” The clerk read the resolution in full and the chamber gave visiting principals, superintendents and other school leaders applause.
Senator from District 8 introduced Pastor Ceson Kufurijigi of Redeemed Christian Church of God to deliver the invocation and later thanked him and the visiting school representatives, noting the congregation’s outreach and food distribution ministries. The senator asked that the invocation and the resolution be journalized; the Senate agreed without objection.
Visitors from Baltimore City Public Schools, Montgomery County Public Schools, Frederick County Public Schools and the Archdiocese schools were singled out during floor introductions. The presiding officer and other senators praised the local school leaders in the gallery for their work supporting students and communities.
The resolution directs the Senate to present its formal congratulations to the schools and extends the chamber’s best wishes for continued success. The visit and the resolution were a ceremonial highlight at the start of the session; no formal debate or vote against the resolution was recorded.
