The CARROLLTON-FARMERS BRANCH ISD board approved TASB Policy Update 126 on March 5 with a governance-committee recommendation to retain the district’s existing grievance policies (DGBA, FNG, GF) under the district’s District of Innovation status.
Dr. Smoskus and governance subcommittee members described a multi-week review of TASB’s side-by-side policy comparisons and said most proposed changes were adopted; the governance committee recommended excluding grievance-policy replacements and keeping the district’s existing procedures. Trustees voted unanimously to accept Update 126 with that carve-out.
The board also voted to adopt AE local, a policy that formally reflects the board’s strategic student outcome goals — including emphasis on third-grade reading and fifth-grade mathematics and a multi-year horizon through 2030 — signaling an intention to anchor future decisions and legislative priorities to those objectives.
What's next: administration will develop any needed regulations and procedures to implement the adopted policies and return to the board with required follow-up documents.
