School board approves superintendent evaluation, praises district staff

The local school board approved the superintendent evaluation at a brief meeting called to order at 5:30 p.m., with a recorded vote in favor by six members.

The chair said the only item on the agenda was approval of the superintendent evaluation, and a board member moved "to approve the evaluation as presented," with a second. After brief remarks thanking district staff, the board voted; Sluder, Brenner, Kilgore, Johnson, Wheeler and Swint voted yes. The motion carried.

Board members took turns praising the district team that prepared the evaluation. One board member specifically thanked staff named Amanda and Heather along with the governance committee for their work on the document. Another board member addressed Dr. Johnson, saying this was the superintendent’s “third, but second evaluation as superintendent” and commending the progress the district has made and the superintendent’s openness to board input.

Clerk Paula conducted the roll call for the vote. The transcript indicates that board member Barsch was not on the call. The meeting was adjourned at 5:33 p.m.
