Lisa Maholic, owner of Jazzer Size Fitness, told the Mount Clemens City Commission during public comment that her studio will move into the city community center and will begin holding paid classes the week of Aug. 13.
Maholic said the studio has served Mount Clemens residents for seven years, previously offering classes at the Mount Clemens Ice Arena and at 273 North Gratiot. She invited residents to a free grand-opening event on Aug. 18 with two sample classes at 8:30 and 9:30 a.m., refreshments and a ribbon cutting afterward. "We're very excited about this and we want to celebrate this," Maholic said.
The announcement included logistics and an invitation to residents from surrounding communities. Maholic emphasized that Jazzer Size will be professional and organized and that the business will take care of the community center space.
City commissioners did not take formal action on the comment but several commissioners later referenced the program when describing downtown activity and new businesses. The studio's first regular classes are scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 13, and the public grand-opening event was announced for Saturday, Aug. 18.
