The Mount Clemens City Commission on May 21 approved several administrative contracts and routine payments, including a five‑year extension of residential refuse and recycling services and a multi‑year website redesign and hosting agreement.
Refuse contract: The commission voted to extend the residential refuse pickup and disposal contract with GFL Environmental USA Inc. for five years, effective June 5, 2018, through June 4, 2023. The agreement covers curbside pickup, bulk item pickup, yard waste, curbside recycling and street litter containers; administration said GFL proposed maintaining current bid pricing for the first year and would allow residents to use 32‑gallon trash cans at the curb. One commissioner called the terms a "great compromise for residents." The extension passed by roll call.
Website agreement: Commissioners approved a multi‑year service and license agreement with govOffice to redesign and host the city's website. Administration said the new site would be responsive across devices, ADA‑compliant and enable email notifications for registered residents. GovOffice will provide role‑based access so departments can manage content; commissioners asked about visitor analytics and staff editing rights, and were told those capabilities can be provided or configured.
Purchases and invoices: The commission approved routine purchases and payment of invoices. A commissioner questioned a low bid from an electrical contractor whose master electrician hourly rate appeared much lower than competing bids; staff responded that the contractor has a master electrician and journeyman on staff, meets insurance requirements and has local experience. The commission approved the payments by roll call.
