Kathy Rollerson, speaking for the Mount Clemens Beautification Committee, presented Snowflake Awards to seven city residents for their holiday decorations, saying the awards recognize “the fact that they gave of themselves” to make the season festive for neighbors.
Lisa (Beautification Committee) read the winners’ names and addresses and the committee presented a canvas print of the winning house and gift certificates from local businesses. Recipients named in the presentation included Valerie Stevens (93 Jones Street), James and Thelma Brown (45 Michigan Avenue), John Bor (475 North), Manuel Ramirez and T. Timothy Nichols (59 Moro), Dale Engel (8 Ros View), Tom and Ann Peters (236 Jones) and Isidor Barnes (16 from Barbara). The committee thanked the mayor and commissioners for the opportunity to acknowledge residents publicly.
Commissioners thanked the beautification volunteers during commissioner comments. Commissioner Campbell said the committee’s work makes the city look beautiful and Commissioner Bunton urged residents to contact the county agency for senior assistance programs when needed. Several commissioners encouraged residents to visit the Hall of History display at City Hall as part of the city’s bicentennial activities.
The presentation included applause from the audience and a brief explanation that Johnson’s produced the canvas prints. No formal action was required; the recognition took place during the meeting’s announcements and presentations portion.
