Commission renews assessor contract with Nancy Stell for one year

The Mount Clemens City Commission voted to renew its contract with Nancy Stell to provide professional services as City Assessor for a one-year term beginning July 1, 2017 and ending June 30, 2018.

Staff recounted the history of the agreement: the original independent-contractor arrangement was approved June 15, 2009 at an annual fee of $60,000, with subsequent renewals, and Ms. Stell indicated she was willing to continue under the same terms. Administration requested a one-year renewal on the same terms and conditions.

After no substantive questions from commissioners, the commission moved and approved the agreement on a roll-call vote. The roll call recorded one commissioner voting no and the remainder voting yes.

The renewal authorizes the mayor and city clerk to execute the agreement; the item was described as a renewal on the same terms rather than a renegotiation of compensation or duties.
