The Mount Clemens City Commission unanimously approved a request from the Lance Cruz Athletic Booster Club to hold a rubber-ducky race on Saturday, May 20, 2017, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., which will drop rubber ducks into the Clinton River from the Cracker Boulevard Bridge with pickup at the Dickinson Street Bridge.
The commission’s motion included use of both banks of Clinton River Park and City Hall parking for event setup, coordination with the county sheriff’s marine division, and a requirement that organizers provide a certificate of liability insurance naming the city as an additional insured. Commissioners asked staff to confirm Department of Public Services (DPW) charges would be reimbursed by event organizers; organizers indicated they would cover those charges.
The commission also voted unanimously to approve payment of invoices and to adopt the consent agenda as presented. All roll-call votes during the business portion of the meeting were recorded as yes by all commissioners present.
Motions recorded in the meeting packet included the motion to approve the event, approval of minutes from the Dec. 5 meeting, and authorization to pay presented invoices. No amendments or conditions beyond the insurance and coordination requirements were listed in the meeting discussion.
