The Mount Clemens Beautification Committee presented its annual Snowflake Awards during the City Commission meeting on Jan. 17, recognizing households for exterior holiday lighting and decorations.
Kathy Rollerson, speaking for the committee, thanked nominees and winners and described how seasonal decorations lift community spirits. Lisa Taylor read the list of award recipients, and Junia Aquero handed out awards at the meeting.
The committee also described upcoming volunteer and educational activities: volunteers will read to classrooms in celebration of Read Across America on March 2, and the committee will work with local third graders to plant a national tree (an oak) during Michigan Arbor Week, April 24–28.
Committee members and commissioners praised residents’ efforts, noting the positive effect decorations have on neighborhoods and downtown.
