Operations staff seek UTV; board asks for standardized vendor quotes

Operations staff member Stephen told the board March 9 that a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) would reduce manual labor, improve safety on busy days and let staff move mulch, rocks and other materials around the facility more efficiently.

"A UTV would definitely help move the rocks and make it look nice," Stephen said, explaining that without mechanical help landscaping and maintenance took multiple wheelbarrow trips and many man‑hours. He said a UTV would also help water and care for trees behind the retention pond and improve safety when many residents visit the site.

Stephen presented three Sourcewell quotes returned from vendors after a broader solicitation; board members said the quotes varied in features (cabs, heaters, windshield wipers, tires and attachments) and asked staff to provide a standardized specification sheet so bids could be compared on an apples‑to‑apples basis. Members recommended staff obtain local pricing (including Kubota/Kabota dealers and McIlisters) and ensure all necessary attachments (blades, spreaders, cab heater, windshield and appropriate tires) are itemized.

No procurement motion was taken. The board directed staff to refine specs, solicit comparable quotes (including local dealers) and report back at the next meeting.
