Representatives from Gate City Bank told the Moorhead City Council on March 9 that the bank is allocating $2 million to support the Moorhead Neighborhood Impact Home Improvement Partnership, a program of below‑market loans for home repairs and accessibility upgrades.
Brandy Olson, assistant vice president and retail manager for the Fargo‑Moorhead market, described the program's goals and eligible project types, from furnace replacements and accessibility adjustments to patio additions and structural corrections. "We're proud to invest in them and so they remain beautiful years to come... In 2026, we're happy to allocate 2 million for this initiative," Olson said.
Olson said Gate City Bank has contributed $127 million to similar programs since 2003 and allocated $23 million across participating communities in 2026 regionally. Council members thanked the bank for its investment and for helping residents access below‑market rates to make homes safer and more accessible.
Council acknowledged the gift with applause and a photo opportunity; staff did not record any council conditions tied to the pledge during the presentation. The program will proceed through the bank's and the city's usual program administration and outreach channels to inform eligible homeowners about applications and qualifying uses.
