South Summit aquatics pool closed for repairs; district expects two-month outage

District staff told trustees on Feb. 26 that the aquatics center pool side is closed for repairs and is expected to remain closed through March and April while contractors address corrosion and replace a redundant pump.

An administrator identified as Adam said some previously unseen rust was discovered on wiring and other components and that the district is working with contractors to determine whether additional repairs — potentially including lifting a section of roof above the slide — will be necessary. Staff said they expect to stay within the work timeline but cautioned that additional issues discovered during repairs could extend the closure.

Officials also said that next Monday the recreation center will be closed for one day so crews can replace a redundant pump and shut the water off to comply with health-code requirements for restrooms and hot water. The district emphasized that the current closure affects the pool side only; the rest of the rec center will be closed only for the single-day utility outage.

The district said it will update the community if the timeline changes and that it is coordinating with the contractor to minimize additional closures.
