Representative Gamble presents $1.17 billion tax-refund package to Senate Finance Committee

Representative Gamble told the Senate Finance Committee that House Bill 1000 would provide about $1.17 billion in tax refunds, with $250 for individual filers, $375 for heads of household and $500 for married couples filing jointly.

“We are here with House Bill 1000…The value of this tax refund is approximately 1.17 billion,” Representative Gamble said, and described the measure as included in the amended budget and part of the governor’s effort to address affordability.

Committee members noted the bill repeats provisions from prior sessions. Senator Cowzer asked whether the package is a re‑run of prior refunds; committee staff and the sponsor said prior identical legislation had already produced refunds in earlier years and this represents an additional run in the governor’s legislative package. Officials told the committee the revenue analysis allowed the per‑household amounts described by the sponsor.
