Board approves plan for Hot Shots Espresso at 322 East Havens Avenue

The planning and zoning board approved a plan for Hot Shots Espresso to replace its existing 8-by-12 building with a 12-by-16 structure at 322 East Havens Avenue.

Staff said the proposal follows the same plan-approval process used when the business came in for its existing structure in 2013. Staff told the board the proposed building will be a "floating" structure without footings, foundations or plumbing and that the business does not have water or sewer directly to the building; employees use restrooms in the adjacent building to the north.

A board member asked whether the new building would include footings or be permanent. Staff confirmed it would be floating, like the existing structure, and reiterated there would be no deck and the front-yard setback requirement (30 feet) would be met.

A motion to approve the plan was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. The chair and members confirmed that this item represents a plan approval rather than a recommendation process in this case.

With approval granted, Hot Shots Espresso may proceed with installing the new 12-by-16 floating structure under the terms discussed at the meeting.
