Cleveland Park Board details concession upgrades, HVAC fixes and master-plan work for a second field

At its regular meeting the Cleveland Park Board heard a report from Miss Ashley on upgrades completed and planned at Municipal Park. She said the concession stand was fitted with two mini-split HVAC units to reduce condensation and that the city installed stainless-steel appliances, including freezers, a refrigerator and food warmers; staff said the equipment going forward will be city property.

Miss Ashley acknowledged the concession area still needs a deep cleaning after installation work and drilling dust; she and other board members said they will clean tables and prepare the stand before the season begins. Robert, who took some of the earlier photos, said the images shown were taken before recent cleaning efforts.

On longer-term work, staff said the park master plan includes provision for a second football/soccer field but that placement is constrained by water retention, flood routing and site geometry. City Engineer Blake was named as a coordinator for the field siting and staff said much of the labor for some projects can be completed in-house to reduce costs.

Board members inquired about accessibility and how the upgrades support public use; staff said the concession and facility changes were made with accessibility and community use in mind. The board did not take a formal policy vote on the master-plan items at this meeting.
