Board approves precinct moves, appropriations and routine items; several votes unanimous

The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors took a series of routine and specific votes during its March 9, 2026 meeting.

The board first approved the consent agenda by roll call. It then voted separately and unanimously on three ordinances temporarily moving the A3, E3 and F3 polling‑place precincts from Virginia Tech’s Squire Student Center to McComas Hall for the April 21 special election because of construction and renovations at Squire. Each precinct motion passed on recorded roll‑call votes noted as seven affirmative votes.

The board also approved an appropriation for signage at the Longot McCoy Fire and Rescue facility, a procedural transfer within Montgomery County Public Schools to the school nutrition fund to correct a prior accounting entry, and a supplemental school capital appropriation of $495,500 from bond proceeds for school capital improvements; the school capital item drew a brief discussion about a sinkhole at Blacksburg High School and plans to engage geotechnical engineers for evaluation and repair.

Finally, the board adopted a proclamation recognizing March 2026 as Problem Gambling Awareness Month at the request of New River Valley Community Services. All listed motions passed on roll‑call votes recorded in the minutes as unanimous (seven affirmative votes).
