Twin Valley SD board approves transportation hires and Career & Technology budgets

During the March 9 meeting the Finance Committee recommended that the board approve four new Transportation Department bus staff and substitutes for the 2025–26 school year (four individuals were listed in the meeting packet). The board moved and seconded the recommendation and approved it by voice vote.

The board also approved the Career and Technology Center general operating budget for 2026–27, following committee recommendation and a second. Members noted that some budgets would roll over and asked administrative staff questions about line items; the motions carried by voice vote.

Separately, the Instructional & Technology Committee presented the K–12 guidance plan as a second-reading item and the board advanced it per committee recommendation. Board members then opened a longer discussion on student cell-phone and technology impacts and agreed to ask administration to develop a research plan and timeline to inform handbook and code-of-conduct updates for 2026–27.

Next steps: administration to finalize hiring paperwork for transportation staff and to submit budget documents for final adoption steps as required by district procurement and budget calendar.
