The school board voted on several personnel and procurement items at its March 9 meeting, approving certified employment recommendations for four candidates and adopting new secondary Spanish textbooks.
In a series of motions the board accepted certified staffing recommendations for Candidates A, B, C and D. The board recorded one opposed vote on the final candidate; otherwise the motions carried and the hires were accepted "as presented." The board then approved the minutes from the February 9 meeting.
The board also moved to adopt the proposed Spanish textbooks for secondary levels one through three after Dr. Atinson presented the materials and explained that course textbooks are selected per district policy and state Department of Education guidance.
On a separate motion the board approved administration’s recommendation to award the annual financial audit services contract to "Martin Smith and company CPAs" for the 2026, 2027 and 2028 fiscal years; the motion was seconded and passed. No specific contract dollar amount was stated in the meeting record.
Board members also approved three overnight student travel requests (HOSA state leadership conference; SHS boys golf tournament; FBLA trip to New York City) during the same business block.
The meeting record shows these actions were taken in one business sequence; no formal amendments to those specific motions were recorded at the meeting. The board closed the action items and proceeded to other agenda topics.
