TransMAC members press for fixes to local intersections, signal timing and rideshare revenue after airport briefing

After hearing presentations from GOAA and Orange County planning staff, Transportation Mobility Advisory Commission members used their member‑comment time to highlight several local priorities:

- Intersection and safety concerns: Commissioners and a submitted public comment raised congestion and safety problems at the Lake View Drive/441 intersection in Apopka; staff acknowledged the electronic comment and said it would be part of the record for follow‑up.

- Traffic signals and coordination: Members described ongoing frustration with signal timing and jurisdictional responsibility (FDOT, city, county) and urged county staff to pursue a workshop to identify opportunities for signal‑priority and integrated corridor management.

- Ridesourcing (Uber/Lyft) and revenue questions: Members asked for deeper briefings on where revenue from TNC activity and on‑site/off‑site rental‑car operations flows and how the county and GOAA can capture value to support infrastructure.

- Citizen proposals and funding ideas: Several commissioners supported inviting Sunrise Movement (the local STAR plan proponents) to present their transit financing plan at a future meeting so the commission could evaluate the concept and decide whether to recommend it to the board of county commissioners. Members asked staff to consider process guardrails for citizen presentations so the commission’s agenda remains balanced.

Commissioners scheduled follow‑up workshops and asked staff to coordinate visits and briefings with GOAA finance staff and planning teams to answer outstanding revenue and signal‑timing questions. The commission did not take formal policy action during member comment time.
