At the April 7, 2026 meeting the Tupelo City Council approved routine procurement and property actions, including demolition of two properties and several contract awards.
Staff requested approval to demolish and clean up 518 Clinton Street, an abandoned home in a neighborhood development corporation project district, and to fill and remediate the abandoned and unsafe pool at 205 Door Run Road. Council voted to approve the demolition and cleanup requests.
The council also approved adding seized vehicles to the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit asset list and approved declaring several narcotics-unit vehicles as surplus because they are not mechanically fit for police duties.
On procurement, the council approved awarding a construction bid to Hooker Construction (lowest/best bid) for a city project referenced as a fire station/pole barn and awarded the Tupelo Roadway Maintenance Program contract (Bid No. 2026006PW) to James A. Hodgees Construction. Council also approved a Ballard Park Soccer Complex stadium-field drainage contract to Next Generation Sports Surfaces LLC ($98,695) and accepted term bid awards for curb, gutter and flatwork across several contractors.
These approvals were presented as routine items; most were discussed at the council’s pre-meeting work session the day before and carried unanimous approval at the meeting.
