Planning commission recommends FY2026–2032 capital improvement program to City Commission

The Lapeer City Planning Commission reviewed the proposed FY2026–2032 capital improvement program on April 9 and voted to recommend adoption of the program to the City Commission.

Manager Womack and staff outlined major capital priorities for the coming budget cycle, including street and bridge work (the Genesee Street bridge replacement was described as a $4.3 million project, largely grant funded), water‑main projects and wastewater treatment plant equipment, public safety vehicle and equipment replacements, and park improvements. Staff described ongoing efforts to align CIP investments with master plan priorities and noted that some projects (for example, bridge and water main work) are timed to maximize grant funding.

Commissioners asked for additional clarity about sidewalk and non‑motorized project funding and noted that the upcoming master plan and non‑motorized plan update will help clarify longer‑term priorities. The Planning Commission made a motion to adopt the CIP recommendation to the City Commission; the motion carried by voice vote.
