The presiding officer called the Senate to order and asked for a moment of silence in lieu of a devotional.
The chamber’s agenda included H.410, described as “an act relating to the calculation of recidivism and other related criminology measures.” The presiding officer said the bill was on the calendar for notice and that, because it carries an appropriation under Rule 31, it was referred to the Committee on Appropriations.
Also announced was a gubernatorial appointment: Rick Hildebrandt was named as nominee for commissioner of the Department of Health. The presiding officer said that nomination will be referred to the Health and Welfare Committee for consideration.
With no other orders of the day available to move from the notice calendar, the senior senator from Chittnet Southeast moved that the Senate stand adjourned until 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. After a voice vote and a division at the mover’s request, the presiding officer reported the tally as 15 in favor and 4 opposed. The motion to adjourn carried and the Senate recessed to the stated date and time.
Before leaving, members made brief announcements that the Senate Finance Committee and the Government Operations Committee would meet at 1:00 p.m., and the session closed with informal remarks from members.
