CRA board votes to outsource website redesign; members call public workshop on Drew Park/Rays proposal

The Tampa CRA voted on April 8 to proceed with outsourcing work to create a dedicated CRA website and to return to the board with a financial resolution to fund the project. Board Member Bill Carlson moved to outsource the work with an estimated cost of about $30,000 and asked staff to present a financial resolution at a future meeting; the board approved the motion and asked staff to plan procurement timing (staff suggested approximately 60 days to allow contract administration processes).

"Having a robust Tampa CRA website will help reduce confusion about where money is spent," Carlson said, urging the board to clarify public-facing information and provide CRA-specific email addresses and tracking.

Board members then turned to new business: discussion about the Drew Park site and possible negotiations tied to the Rays. Several members urged broad public engagement, including an evening community workshop and possibly a countywide vote or larger forum. Board Member Lynn Hurtak offered to work with staff to develop an evening workshop and suggested a Convention Center venue to maximize participation.
