Calcasieu Parish orders demolition of seven derelict properties, defers three others

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury on April 9 voted to condemn and order the removal of multiple structures deemed unsafe, giving owners 30 days to comply in the items heard at the meeting.

The jury ordered condemnation and removal within 30 days for the following properties (as recorded): 1731 Abshire Road, Moss Bluff; 3039 Party Road, Lake Charles; 1099 Clark Road, Moss Bluff; 305 Grape Street, DeQuincy; 1734 Highway 3/Highway 109 South, Vinton; 4020 East Burton Street, Sulphur; and 2651 Frederick Road, Westlake. (Motions carried for each item; movers and seconders were recorded in the transcript for each motion.)

Three other addresses were deferred: 1051 Wedgewood Drive, Moss Bluff (deferred 30 days); 1503 West Pine Meadows Drive, Moss Bluff (deferred to May 7, 2026); and 108 Bobbitt Road, DeQuincy (deferred to June 4, 2026) per staff recommendation.
