The conference committee on SB 193 approved its first conference committee report after a brief staff summary and a roll-call vote that passed 5–1.
Richard Sweetman of Legislative Legal Services told the committee that the report “adds back in to the bill the language that was added concerning collective bargaining agreements in two places” and that the amendment delays Section 3 of the act until Jan. 1, 2028. Sen. Kirkmeyer asked specifically what lines 14 through 18 strike; Sweetman said those lines are the safety clause in the re-engrossed bill and that the amendment restores the safety clause with a modified effective date.
Sen. Kirkmeyer moved adoption of the first conference committee report on Senate Bill 193. The clerk conducted a roll call: Bridges voted aye; Kirkmeyer voted aye; Sirota voted no; Bosch voted yes; Brown voted yes; and the chair voted yes. The chair announced the motion passed, 5–1. After the vote, Sweetman asked members to sign the report before leaving the room. The committee adjourned the first conference committee on SB 193.
