Rancho Palos Verdes hosts annual egg hunt, inflatables and Critter Squad at Ken Dyda Civic Center

The city of Rancho Palos Verdes held its annual egg hunt at the Ken Dyda Civic Center, combining age-grouped egg hunts, inflatables, cotton candy and a Critter Squad petting zoo for families.

"Today, we have our egg hunt, our inflatables, our cotton candy, and our Critter Squad here with our petting zoo," said Cindy Soto, the city's recreation coordinator, describing the event program. Soto and other staff noted the egg hunt was organized by age groups (1'3, 3'6, and 7'8) and included hundreds of eggs and a golden-egg prize opportunity.

Dyl Skibbs of the Critter Squad, a wildlife-education group, described the educational element: staff brought domestic rabbits, guinea pigs and Russian tortoises to let children meet animals and learn about wildlife. City staffers at the event encouraged family attendance and said it remains a popular spring community activity.

The egg hunt is part of the city's seasonal programming and community events calendar; staff asked participants to follow posted rules at events and watch for age-group assignments to keep activities safe and orderly. No public-safety incidents were reported during the segment.
