The Cobb County Board of Elections approved the advanced voting schedule for May 19 at its April 10 pre-certification meeting, adding Tim Lee Senior Center back to the list of locations. The motion to approve the May schedule was moved, seconded and carried 5 to 0.
Board members then discussed whether to publish a countywide June runoff schedule before results from the May election are final. Members expressed concerns that publishing a full countywide runoffs schedule could waste resources if runoffs end up limited to specific districts and noted short statutory windows for parties to submit poll watchers. Board members said poll watchers typically have a 14-day window (and other staggered windows may apply for candidates and parties), and that early voting for a runoff under the projected calendar would begin the weekend of June 6.
Because of those uncertainties and to ensure staffing and locations match the actual need, a board member moved to table the June advanced voting schedule item to the May 26 certification meeting. The motion was seconded and carried; the record reflects a 4–0–1 result (four yes, zero no, one member did not record a vote).
Chair remarks and procedural votes concluded the old-business portion of the meeting; the board announced upcoming meetings, including the April 13 certification meeting and a special called meeting on April 17, and adjourned at 3:21 p.m.
