EDAB approves support letter backing WheelFind project pending engineering clarifications

The Economic Development Advisory Board voted to approve and forward a support letter for a proposed WheelFind commercial development, while acknowledging outstanding state engineering comments on vehicle turning radiuses and drainage.

EDAB members said the project aligns with the town's master plan and that the planning board had previously approved the base plans; however, state agencies raised technical concerns that led to a rejection on a prior submission. A board member summarized conversations with the project engineer and the owners and said the revised submission will address the DOT and DEC comments.

The board motioned to approve the letter as drafted, incorporating an agreed edit, and to forward it via the town's liaison email so the town board and relevant departments can view the record. The motion was seconded and carried with at least one voiced opposition during the roll-call discussion.

Committee members emphasized that the letter reflects EDAB's economic-development perspective and is not a final planning approval; engineering and agency approvals remain the developer's responsibility. Staff said the letter and supporting materials would be archived through the liaison channel so town-board members have visibility.
