County attorney asks board to authorize participation in national opioid settlement with six remnant defendants

County Attorney Stacy Blackman briefed the board on the next step in national opioid settlement participation and asked the commissioners to adopt a resolution authorizing the chairman to execute settlement documents for six remnant defendants (small distributors and dispensers).

Blackman said the county has participated in related settlements previously and that this action requires a board resolution to authorize execution of settlement documents. She recommended placing the resolution and related authorization on the consent agenda for formal action at the upcoming regular meeting. The work session record shows staff recommended consent placement and no formal vote occurred during the work session.
