Council hears concerns about board recruitment; museum, library and public-art plans highlighted

Council members reported that both the museum and library advisory boards are struggling to attract applicants for upcoming vacancies, risking quorum and limiting board capacity to act.

At the Museum Advisory Board meeting, members saw an expansion presentation; the library advisory members raised concerns that not enough people have applied to fill seats. Councilmembers described ongoing recruitment and outreach efforts (social media boosts, advertising and mailings) and said boards agreed on budget priorities classified as level one (must-pay bills) and level two items to forward to staff.

Public-art and events: A councilmember described a wrapped-traffic-box program that will use vinyl wraps and QR codes so passersby can scan and read historical context about the artwork; the program will roll down the Pike.
