District curriculum staff recommended adopting i‑Ready for kindergarten through fourth‑grade math after a yearlong pilot comparing i‑Ready and Into Math.
Nicole Brecker, who supported the K–4 pilot, described a selection process that included classroom pilots, stakeholder observations, teacher rubrics and student and family surveys. "Teacher evaluation was higher for i‑Ready at every grade level, and every grade level selected i‑Ready as strongly recommended," Brecker said. She added that student and family feedback also favored i‑Ready and that benchmark assessment gains were stronger for students using i‑Ready.
Board members asked about alternative costs, consumable materials and how the curriculum review cycle works. When asked how much Into Math would have cost, Brecker said she did not have the exact number but believed it would have been "very similar" and "might have been upper 500," meaning roughly comparable to the i‑Ready five‑year projection.
Mrs. Robbins told the board that the district has budgeted for these nonrecurring curriculum costs and that she would recommend using fund balance to pay for items that are not recurring operating expenses.
Presenters said i‑Ready includes a combination of teacher‑led Ready Classroom Mathematics and personalized digital MyPath modules, ongoing diagnostics and real‑time data for teachers to monitor progress. If the board approves the recommendation at its April 16 voting session, administration said it will proceed with contract and implementation planning, including summer professional development for staff.
