Port Hueneme city attorney announces resignation during closed-session report

Mayor Perez opened the April meeting and announced two closed-session items before recessing the council. At the reconvened regular session the city attorney delivered the closed-session report and said there was no legally reportable action, but that he had "tendered my resignation to the law firm of Green D Porowski" and "I will no longer be serving as City attorney to this wonderful City." He added that attorneys from that firm were present to begin providing legal services to the city.

Council members expressed appreciation for the attorney's service. After applause, the mayor and other council members thanked him and wished him well in his next endeavor. The council did not take any formal public action beyond receiving the closed-session report.

The announcement came during the council's opening business; the council continued with scheduled presentations and public comments.

The council did not vote on any employment action in open session and the closed-session report stated only that there was "no legally reportable action." The city attorney's announcement identifies a forthcoming change in the city's legal representation and the presence of outside counsel at the meeting.
