Committee recommends two appointments to Game, Fish and Parks Commission

Deputy Secretary Scott Simpson presented two executive appointments to the Senate Education Committee on March 3: Kevin Nyberg of Sioux Falls, described as CEO of Nyberg's ACE and a foundation board member, and Chuck (Charles) Spring of Union Center, a lifetime rancher and former commissioner. Nyberg said he wants to nurture outdoor participation among younger South Dakotans and praised the department’s staff; Spring emphasized his ranching background and interest in wildlife management. Both nominees received proponent testimony from retail and conservation groups and each was advanced by unanimous committee votes to the Senate floor (advice and consent votes recorded 7–0).
