Board flags facility shortcomings, asks staff to follow up on vacant Hardeeville Family Dollar

Board members used the meeting to raise long-standing facility concerns and to request follow-up about a vacant commercial property in Hardeeville.

Members said carpet measurements are being taken for the office even as they contend the facility does not meet operational needs for election activity. A board member said the county had previously offered an alternative building that the members declined because it was not suitable for their operational requirements.

Board members reported the access drives leading to the office remain unrepaired despite prior requests to public works. Staff directed questions about access-drive repairs to Jim in public works, who was referenced during the discussion.

The board also asked staff to follow up on a vacant Family Dollar store in Hardeeville. A board member said a Hardeeville zoning/building official had been looking into the property with Mr. Fulghum, but ownership and a formal listing were not yet known.

No formal action was taken; the board asked staff to continue inquiries and to raise facility needs during upcoming budget discussions.
