The DuPage County Finance Committee on May 12 approved the county's FY2027 budget preparation instructions, the FY2027 budget calendar and the DuPage County FY2027 financial budget policies.
Vice Chair Cahill moved the budget preparation instructions (26-14-48) and the board approved them by voice vote. The committee then approved the FY2027 calendar (FIR 79-26) and adopted the financial budget policies (FIR 80-26). The votes followed a slate of finance resolutions and grant acceptances presented earlier in the meeting.
Among related finance items approved was acceptance and appropriation of a U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance grant for the DNA Capacity Enhancement and Backlog Reduction Program (program year '25) totaling $317,583 for the sheriff's office. Vice Chair Cahill presented that item and the board approved it by voice vote.
The committee also approved administrative items including personnel budget revisions, bank depository approvals and job classification adjustments for offices such as Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
The meeting record shows the committee framed the FY2027 budget approach by using the FY2026 adopted budget as the base with a 2% increase applied to commodities and contractual accounts and a process for requesting additional funds if needed.
The committee received and placed on file informational materials about payment of claims, wire transfers and grant proposal notifications and adjourned after completing the agenda.
