The Los Alamitos Education Foundation’s executive director, Carrie Logue, reviewed the foundation’s history, programs and finances and announced she is stepping down from full‑time leadership after 12½ years.
In a presentation to the district board, Logue outlined LAFE’s work as the district’s nonprofit partner — after‑school and summer enrichment, summer enrichment institute, STEAM and innovation grants, scholarships, wellness‑space funding and other community programs. She said her annual income figure grew from roughly $300,000 when she joined to about $2.8 million in the most recent year and that LAFE has generated significant revenue and program funding over her tenure.
Logue described smaller programs such as “love grants” (one‑time funds added to family accounts following community tragedies) and staff members LAFE places in after‑school classes to support students with unique needs. She thanked the board and community and said she will serve full time through the end of the month, then transition to quarter‑time consulting until a successor is named.
Board members praised Logue’s leadership and credited LAFE with funding key district projects such as the performing arts center, wellness spaces, teacher innovation grants and scholarships. Trustees presented a certificate and a gift and highlighted LAFE’s role in increasing access to enrichment and mental‑health supports across the district.
What’s next: LAFE will continue programming while the foundation’s board searches for Logue’s full‑time replacement; Logue said she will remain engaged as a donor and advisor during the transition.
