Members of the Los Alamitos High School Golden Griffins robotics team addressed the board to describe the team’s competitive season, outreach and student development work, and to thank district and community supporters.
Hass Harmon, team captain and a junior, said the team’s mission is to provide hands‑on STEM and business education across the district and highlighted competitive finishes — third and fifth place at local district tournaments and participation in the Southern California State Championship. Several other students described the team’s summer camp and outreach programs that bring robotics to elementary and middle school students.
Superintendent Dr. Pulver praised the students for their time commitment and announced the board’s support, saying the district provided up to $10,000 in seed funds for innovation projects and that the robotics team received a $5,000 grant this year; she noted that the first competition entry exceeded $6,000 and thanked parents and sponsors for additional support.
Students gave dates for the LAFE‑supported robotics summer camp (July 6 through July 24). The board and audience acknowledged the team’s work with applause and photo opportunities followed the presentations.
What’s next: the team will run summer camps and continue outreach; the board’s grant is intended to support prototyping and materials.
