The Rescue Union School District Board of Trustees approved Resolution 26-02, the Declaration of Need for Fully Qualified Educators for the 2026–27 school year, following a brief presentation explaining staffing needs.
Mister Haley said the district is preparing staffing for the 2026–27 year and may face shortages of fully credentialed teachers. "We may need to, consider someone who maybe hasn't finished their specific coursework, but they qualify for an emergency permit," he said, describing the district's authority to use emergency permits when fully qualified candidates cannot be found.
The board moved to approve Resolution 26-02. Miss White made the motion to approve; a second was recorded on the record and the Chair announced the motion passed after 'aye' votes were voiced. The transcript records affirmative votes and the Chair declared the motion passes. The board did not record any 'no' votes on the public record for this motion.
Board members and staff noted the action fulfills a legislative requirement that the governing board hold a public meeting when presenting a declaration of need for fully qualified educators. The Chair also explained that the superintendent will communicate scheduling changes for other agendized items affected by the revised agenda.
The board took no additional substantive action on staffing at the meeting; the resolution authorizes the district to identify staffing needs and, if necessary, to proceed with hiring under the relevant emergency-permit processes.
