The Township High School District 211 board voted to approve Visual Imaging Photography (VIP) as the district’s exclusive student photography vendor for the 2024–2027 school years after the vendor and trustees discussed privacy protections and administrative review controls.
Drew Hayes, vice president of Visual Image Photography, told the board the company has systems and training in place to protect student privacy and described decades of experience with schools. "We at VIP have the ability and systems in place to provide districtwide photography services that we recently proposed while ensuring and protecting student privacy," Hayes said during public comment.
Trustees emphasized administrative controls in the vendor agreement: event galleries will be administratively approved and locked from public view until a school staff member receives and confirms a gallery link in writing. After reconvening to allow remote trustees to join, the board voted to reconsider the prior April action and then approved VIP; roll calls show the reconsideration and approval passed with a majority and one recorded "no." Trustees said the administrative gallery‑approval step and the district’s ability to decline candid uploads helped address privacy concerns.
Next steps: the district will finalize contract language to reflect the approved privacy controls and the administration will oversee implementation and site review procedures.
