Participant questions Neri school roof budget; staff says ballot vote and bids expected in May

A participant asked the committee about the Neri school roof project and whether bids were out; committee staff said the roof still requires a ballot vote and that bids were expected in May.

The participant asked where the roof project stood and whether it was out for bid. Becky, a district staff member, said the project “needs to be a ballot vote the May election” and that bids were expected back “the week of I believe May 20th.” She confirmed the project’s budget was cited as about $4.5 million.

One attendee offered an alternate approach — a conventional framed roof rather than a flat roof — and said they had obtained a rough price “a little under $2 million.” A committee member raised a point of order that the discussion strayed from the meeting agenda and could implicate open meeting rules.

No action was taken on the roof at the meeting; committee members said further discussion of that capital project belongs to the item’s dedicated process and to the relevant ballot and select board timelines.
