The Committee of the Whole heard from David Baramento Jr., director of Legacy Basketball Academy, who asked the city to place a revocable license agreement with Legacy on the council agenda.
Baramento described Legacy as a 25‑plus‑year community program focused on basketball fundamentals, mentorship and life skills, and said the organization offers scholarships for families that cannot afford fees. He said the program serves children as young as about age six through late teens and that Legacy seeks to rent PAL spaces and partner with the city to provide programming and tournaments.
Council members asked how the program would coordinate with PAL operations and whether lease proceeds would help support PAL; staff said rental income would help and that multiple programs can operate within separate PAL rooms without conflict. Councilwoman Avala requested a deeper briefing on PAL funding before the council meeting; staff agreed to provide additional information.
The committee voted to place the revocable license agreement with Legacy Basketball Academy on the council agenda for further consideration.
