The Bradenton City Council on April 8 set second readings and public hearings for three first‑reading ordinances.
Ordinance 4072 would annex contiguous real property generally located east of 50th Street West (parcel IDs listed) into the city; staff described the parcel(s) as containing approximately 397 acres in the ordinance language and set a second reading and public hearing for May 13.
Ordinance 4075 would amend the city’s firefighters’ retirement system definitions and employee contribution schedule, reducing employee contribution rates from the existing level to 9% immediately upon adoption, then to 8% on Oct. 1, 2026, and 7% on Oct. 1, 2027; the second reading and public hearing were scheduled for April 22.
Ordinance 4076 would add chapter 75 to the Bradenton code to establish a master capital project and service assessment program, authorize special assessments, explain assessment procedures and collection mechanisms (and reference Florida Statutes sections 197.3632 and 197.3635); that ordinance’s second reading and public hearing are also set for April 22. Councilmembers and staff said they will invite affected stakeholders (including Ironwood representatives) to future meetings to discuss assessment areas and procedures.
Council did not vote to adopt these ordinances at the meeting; members scheduled the required public hearings and second readings on the dates listed.
